As The Eagle Soars, So Will You

Editorial Note: I realize it’s Tuesday and I should be posting writer’s tips, however, I am guest-posting on Nicole Basaraba’s blog, Universe City, tomorrow where I will be talking about 6 Ways to Keep Your Readers Engaged. So today is tomorrow’s Next Chapter of Our Lives post.

Most of us in mid-life are grandparents already, or about to be. We are allowed the privilege of parenting again but, this time, without the stress of careers, budgets, day care, and social pressures.

Grandparenting is a time of renewing our playfulness, as well as, discipline with a smile. We reap immediate joy from teaching our grand-girls and boys timeless lessons and games. Our patience, experience and hindsight, acquired over a lifetime, now has purpose: nurturing our grandchildren and passing on what we’ve learned.

Our 2 1/2 nd 6 1/2 year old granddaughters have moved in with us for a few months while their mother finishes her education. We have the honor of helping them all soar to new heights.

*My daughter will be able to focus totally on her studies. When she completes her coursework, she will be capable of working in her field and planning the early stages of her entrepreneurship.

*My 6 year old granddaughter is learning to make real friends. She’s at an age where she comprehends more about loyalty, fairness, and honesty. She is also developing her artistic talents and looking forward to learning to swim, gymnastics, girl scouts. she’s sees the world as an exciting place now, where she can try new things and find out where she excels.

*My 2 year old granddaughter improves her vocabulary daily. She wants to be just like her big sister, so she’s willing to reach for the stars to discover what she can do. She’s fearless on the jungle gym and the sliding board.  She follows in her sister’s footsteps in taking responsibility for her toys.

As my husband and I soar to new heights of fitness (due to running after a 2 yr old), joy, and productivity (necessary in order to get our usual amount of work done), you will also soar like an eagle in your mid-life experiences.

We all just need that loving push to accomplish things we thought we might not be capable of doing.  I am lovingly pushing you, my fellow mid-lifers, to soar to new heights in your life. Strive for perfection in your work, get yourselves fit for life, make new friends, join a group of like-minded people, enjoy every minute of everyday, read more, love more, travel, notice the little things, live in the moment!

Every one of my Next Chapter of Our lives posts will give you a little more PUSH, a little more motivation, or a little more support to do the things you love or learn new things to love.

Enjoy the following video called, The Push. I hope it will inspire you to push yourself or your loved ones to reach beyond your perceived limits. You can do anything, you know, if you believe.

Tell me how you can help yourself or someone else soar to new heights.

I love hearing from you and anxiously await your comments.

I, too, have grandchildren, and find great joy in them. I get to play with them, encourage them, take them to places their working parents don’t have time to, (Chuck E cheese anyone?) Mid-life is great and I love your advice about soaring to new heights!
